7.3. Worker’s Compensation Insurance
On-the-job injuries are covered by the Workers’ Compensation Insurance Policy. This insurance is provided at no cost to employees. If an employee is injured on the job, no matter how slightly, it should be reported immediately to the supervisor, who then reports it to the Office for Insurance Risk Management at the Catholic Pastoral Center. Consistent with applicable state law, failure to report an injury within a reasonable period of time could jeopardize an employee’s claim for benefits.
If the employee’s injury is the result of an on-the-job accident, the employee must provide a written statement of the incident, including date, time, the context of the event, and the injury. An employee absent due to an on-the-job injury will be required to submit a medical release before returning to work.
Employees should alert their supervisor of any condition that could lead to or contribute to an employee accident or possible injury.
