St. John Vianney: Patron of Diocesan Priests
St. John Vianney, the Curé of Ars, is the patron saint of diocesan priests. He wasn’t known for extraordinary talent or intellect, but for something far more important—faithfulness. As a parish priest, he gave his life completely to Christ and to the people entrusted to him, spending countless hours preaching the Gospel and offering God’s mercy in the confessional.
What made St. John Vianney a saint wasn’t his ability, but his availability. He trusted God to work through his weakness, and God did extraordinary things.
That’s why our diocesan Vocations program turns to him for intercession. We ask him to pray that God will raise up generous men—men willing to say yes, to trust the Lord, and to serve His people as diocesan priests.
St. John Vianney reminds us that priesthood is about love, sacrifice, and shepherding souls after the heart of Christ.
St. John Vianney, pray for our priests, our seminarians, and for many future shepherds in our diocese.
