1.2. At-Will Employment
All parishes, schools, and other agencies within the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois are an “at-will” employer. This means that regardless of any provision in this Employee Handbook, your employment may be terminated at any time, with or without notice, and with or without cause. Likewise, we respect your right to leave your location at any time, with or without notice and with or without cause. Nothing in this Employee Handbook or in any document or statement, written or oral, shall limit the right to terminate employment “at-will”. No officer, employee, or representative is authorized to enter an agreement-express or implied-with any employee for employment for a specified time unless such an agreement is in a written contract signed by the pastor or agency director.
