3.8. Employment Authorization Verification
In compliance with the federal Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA), as amended, and any state law requirements, new hires will be required to complete Section one (1) of federal Employment Eligibility Verification Form, (Form I-9), on the first day of paid employment and must present acceptable documents authorized by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services proving identity and employment authorization no later than the third business day following the start of employment with the Curia, parish, school, or other agency within the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois. If an employe is currently employed and has not complied with this requirement or if their status has changed, the employee should inform their supervisor or the Office of Human Resources.
If an employee is authorized to work in the United States of America for a limited time, they will be required to submit proof of renewed employment eligibility prior to expiration of that period to remain employed by the Curia, parish, school, or other agency.
