Children across diocese showcase their creative talents for Catholic Times’ Build a Church Lego Contest

Our churches are literally the house of God, as Jesus is truly present to us in the holy Eucharist. To celebrate the nationwide Eucharistic Revival which started this summer and to prepare for our own diocesan wide Year of the Eucharist starting in December, Catholic Times hosted a free Lego contest this summer to see what young architect/builder could create the most impressive church from scratch!

80 children from across the diocese submitted their Lego church, which could be a replica of their home parish, another church they’ve been to, or one completely unique. O’Shea Builders of Springfield sponsored the contest and picked the top three of each age category (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, high school). Bishop Thomas John Paprocki then chose the winner of each age category. Each winner will receive $100 and $100 for their home parish.

Below, we showcase every child's beautiful creation and in their words, the description of their church. Click on the age category and you will find photos of each submission in alphabetical order by first time. Thank you to all who participated! The creations are awesome!

Congratulations Winners!
