Priesthood Sunday — celebrated this year on Sept. 29 — is a special day set aside to honor the priesthood. It is a day to reflect upon and affirm the role of the priesthood in the life of the Church and in your life. There are lots of things you can do to show your love and support for your parish priest such as:

1. Buy your priest a set of thank you cards and give one to each major group within the parish. Collect them and then give him a basket of cards with treats;
2. Coordinate a parish potluck dinner to celebrate “Father’s Day”;
3. Coordinate a reception following Masses;
4. Offer an essay, poster, or poetry contest on this or similar topic: “Why Father  _____ is so amazing”;
5. Include a biography of your priest in the bulletin;
6. Have everyone sign a BIG card for your priest. Your parish may be so large that each Mass has its own BIG card. Great! Then display them at the donut and coffee reception on that Sunday;
7. Gather a picture of when your priest(s) was younger and share with your parishioners in the bulletin, church email newsletter, or on a poster;
8. Write a thank you note or offer him a small gift;
9. Invite him to lunch or dinner;
10. Pray for him!
